Magellan put this out today regarding member eligibility.
This message is sent to help prevent claim denials for eligibility. It is very important to check member eligibility for services provided before each visit. Two options are available:
- DMAS offers a web-based Internet option, the Automated Response System (ARS) to verify member eligibility. The Virginia Medicaid Web Portal can be accessed by going to:www.virginiamedicaid.dmas.virginia.gov. The ARS users guide is available under the ‘Provider Resources’ quick link.
- The MediCall audio response system can be accessed by calling 1-800-844-9730 or 1-800-772-9996. When checking member eligibility on the MediCall system, please listen to the entire message to verify member enrollment in a Medicaid HMO or fee for service. Pay close attention to the benefit plan assigned to the member since service coverage could be limited. Listening to the entire message can help reduce claim denials for eligibility issues.
