The resource document’s purpose is to provide guidance to professional behavior analysts on working collaboratively with speech-language pathology colleagues. It outlines considerations regarding scope of practice and scope of competence to inform interprofessional interactions and interdisciplinary team decisions. Behavior analysts should practice in a manner that aligns with interprofessional collaboration competencies so their expertise in the science of human behavior may be combined with the unique expertise of speech-language pathologists to produce socially meaningful improvements in clients’ lives.

Thanks to a workgroup led by Dr. Trina Spencer (other members were Drs. Teresa Cardon, Lindee Morgan, and Lina Slim) for donating their time and ensuring the document accurately reflects statements about behavior analysis and speech-language pathology. Thanks as well to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, which has provided outstanding leadership to health professions regarding interprofessional practice and education.

Best,

ABAI Team
